Welcome to Week 4.
Thank you to all our parents and guardians who were able to come to our Parent/Teacher Interviews this week. Parent/Teacher Interviews are always a good chance for our parents/guardians to catch up with their child’s teacher to get a better understanding of your child’s growth and areas to work towards. If you were unable to make it to the Parent/Teacher Interviews, please make contact with your child’s teacher to arrange either a phone conversation or face to face meeting. If you are unsure, please make contact with the school office.
Last week, we had over 45 students attend the Bunya Districts Athletics Carnival held at the Dalby Christian College. A huge thank you to Ms Trina Little on her efforts in getting all the nominations in and arranging for the students to participate. From the day, 10 students from DSS will now go to Darling Downs Carnival later this term. Congratulations to all the students who participated at Bunya! Well done.
Also last week, our Junior and Senior Dance Teams participated in the Toowoomba Dance Eisteddfod. Winners are grinners! Well done to the Junior Dance Team who were placed Highly Commended and the Senior Dance Team placed third! Congratulations to both teams as they competed against nine other teams.
Continuing on with our student success, I would also like to recognise Imali Draper and Nick Summerville who took part in Creative Generation – State Schools Onstage 2025 (CGEN). This extraordinary event brought together students from across Queensland, and our two very own performers shone brightly—delighting audiences with their dazzling dance routine (Imali) and stunning vocals (Nick). We look forward to showcasing Imali and Nick when CGEN will be televised on TV later this year.
Over the past weeks we have been working with the team from Dalby State High School to review the process for High School Transition. We have been working with the team to outline what has worked and what areas need further considerations on the feedback that we have provided to DSHS. The feedback that we have provided has been taken on board and we look forward to making High School Transition smoother for our Year 6 Students. Commencing this term, the team from Dalby High will begin visiting and working with our Year 6 students and teachers with a ‘Meet and Greet’ allowing our students to ask questions that they may have about all things high school. Then the next steps will be bringing the DIP Leaders to Year 6 and working with the students. Then on Wednesday 20th August, there will be a Meet and Greet at Dalby SS for Parents and Guardians to meet with the Dalby High School Staff. Further information will be provided closer to the date.
Next week, we will hosting ‘Ready with Eddie’ sessions again on Tuesday and Thursday. This is a chance for our 2026 Preppies to come and visit Dalby State School during school time to have a look around, where they get to experience the sight, sounds and the Prep spaces. All are welcome to attend. These are informal sessions that allow families to come through and have a look at how we do business at Dalby SS. We are still finalising our Prep Transition for Term 4. Families would be familiar with our Lift Off Prep Transition Program, however we have rebranded this to now – ‘Ready with Eddie’. We look forward to launching and sharing our Ready with Eddie Prep Transition with our school community.
Warm regards,
Scott Bach

Keeping your child and other kids healthy!
As we settle into the cooler months, we hope all our students and families are keeping warm and well. Winter often brings an increase in seasonal illnesses, so it's more important than ever to look after our health and wellbeing.
To help families stay informed, we’ve included a helpful poster from Queensland Health outlining illnesses and their recommended exclusion periods from school. This is a great resource to refer to when deciding if your child is well enough to attend school.
We appreciate your support in helping keep our school community healthy. If your child is unwell, we encourage you to keep them home to rest and recover – this helps prevent the spread of illness and ensures all students have the best chance to learn in a safe environment.
