From the Principal
Welcome to Week 4. We are nearly half way through Term 2.
As we have a change of season, it is a timely reminder that student uniforms are clearly named, especially tracksuit pants and jumpers. The number of no-name jumpers and pants we collect is quite considerable and it makes it hard to return these too children. I also encourage families to purchase school jumpers and track pants. There are a number of options available through the uniform shop. We will continue to work with families to make sure children are in the correct uniform.
Last week, we had a number of students run at the Bunya Districts Cross Country. Well done to the following students Charlotte, Osman, Alice, Joey, Dallas and Imali in making the Bunya Team. These students will participate at the Darling Downs Cross Country Trials at Toowoomba
I would like to welcome Mr Nate (Nathan) Kuhn who was successful in obtaining the Grounds Person position at the school.
The Department of Education was successful in purchasing 56 Drayton St or the ‘Knox Vets’ building. The building and grounds have now been acquired by the school. Moving forward, the building will be demolished with the site being cleared and turned into further oval space for the school. We are working with the Regional Facilities Department as we move through the steps.
We are still on track with the installation of the new Year 4, 5 and 6 Playground. This will replace the existing Year 4 to 6 that is located near K Hall on Jimbour St. The new playground will be installed between the MPC (Multi-purpose Courts) and the F Block Demountable on the grassed area.
It is hard to believe that we are even considering our Prep Cohort for 2026. However, this has begun. As part of our journey we have rebranded our approach to Prep Transition. Previously our Prep Transition has been called ‘Lift Off’ as the next step from Playgroup (Lift) into school with Lift Off. This rebranding has evolved from our mascot and students/families associating Eddie with our school. We now call our Prep Transition ‘Ready with Eddie’. We look forward to meeting and working with families and our new friends as we start the journey for Prep in 2026.
In 2025 there have been changes made to the requirements for academic reporting. Academic reporting is about communication to parents/families and students about achievement and progress in the curriculum provided. Academic reports provide point in time information about achievement at the end of each reporting period (Semester 1 and 2).
Commencing this year the following changes will apply to a Students Report Card:
- Prep to Year 2 will now report on Academic Achievement as:
- Applying (VHA / A)
- Connecting (HA / B)
- Working With (Sound / C)
- Exploring (Developing / D)
- Beginning (Support Required / E)
