From the Principal

These last two weeks have certainly been very busy for our students and staff across the school. Last week, we welcomed the Year 10 DIP Leaders from Dalby State High School, who spent time with our Year 6 students as part of their transition to high school. This was a valuable opportunity for our students to ask questions and gain a clearer understanding of what to expect next year. A big thank you to the DSHS team for supporting this important stage in our students’ journey.

On Monday, our school was transformed into a colourful world of characters as students and staff dressed up to celebrate Book Week. It was fantastic to see the creativity and enthusiasm on display, well done to everyone who joined in the fun.

Yesterday, our U10 and U12 rugby league teams represented Dalby SS at the Wayne Beeston Shield Gala Day at St Mary’s College in Toowoomba. We were proud to be the only school from Dalby participating. Well done to all players on a great effort and for representing our school with pride!

  • Our U12 team made it to the final against St Mary’s Toowoomba! Due to weather interruptions, the final has been postponed and will be held in Dalby next week. We're currently working to confirm a date that suits both schools.

  • Our U10 team also did a fantastic job, finishing second overall in a shortened competition format.

Our school bands and music students have had a big week at the Dalby Eisteddfod. On Wednesday, our Beginner Band performed for the first time at a major event, an exciting milestone! Today, both our Concert Band and Stage Band took to the stage with wonderful performances. A huge congratulations to all students who performed throughout the week, whether as a soloist, in a duet, trio, or quartet. Performing in front of an audience is no mean feat, and we’re very proud of everyone’s efforts.

The following students were nominated by our Music and Instrumental Teachers – Mrs Kreymborg and Mrs Summerville to participate in the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) Toowoomba 2025. From this nomination all the students have been successful in being nominated and offered a place in SHEP Toowoomba. SHEP is a two-day program in Toowoomba where students who are accepted come together from across a variety of primary and secondary schools and learn, practice and perform in a concert. Well done to all the students on being successful in this event.

This week, we continued hosting our Prep Come and See Mornings for families considering enrolment in Prep for 2026 at Dalby State School. It’s always a pleasure to welcome both new and familiar faces to our school and share what makes Dalby SS such a wonderful place to learn and grow.

It’s almost time for our biggest fundraiser of the year- The Creekside Markets. Keep an eye on Facebook, yellow notes, and email updates for all the latest information. There are many ways to get involved, whether before or on the day. Your support is what makes this event such a success, thank you in advance!

Warm Regards,

Scott Bach
